REWIND:

Kate was 12 years old playing guitar in a rock band called Bacon & Eggs…

Her style at the time was crazy - knee-high Converse, colorful patterns, and fingerless gloves crazy. So when it came time to buy a guitar strap she needed something just as unique to match. However - the only affordable guitar straps at the local guitar shop were either flames and skulls. Oh and if you were a girl the salesman would always point out the single pink fur-covered strap. Hard pass.

PAUSE.

The lack of guitar strap options was a problem begging to be solve and that is what inspired BiG CHiCK Energy.

Kate has been designing and conceptualizing guitar strap designs shaped like hotdogs and Converse shoes since her middle school art class.

Along the way, she was lucky enough to meet Wacky Wacko designer and fellow Kansas City native, Peggy Noland, who helped to bring her designs to life.

FAST FORWARD:

When Kate left for college at Belmont University in Nashville, TN her family helped her pack up two minivans and one Mini Cooper full of stuff. One of the hardest things to pair down for travel was guitar accessories.

That’s when the light bulb went off: One guitar strap, many designs.

And here we are! Backed by her BiG Italian family - BiG CHiCK Energy is about keeping it simple without sacrificing style, creativity, and fun!

BiG CHiCK Energy is for all those strings players out there that believe in supporting artists of all colors, creeds, and genders. Artists who love to celebrate their uniqueness and need a guitar strap to match.

About Kate.

Well-versed in the art of puns and guitar-shredding, Kate Cosentino’s music is something of jazzy sleekness atop the lyrical precision of witty slam poetry. Whether you saw her rock the stage as a part of Niall Horan's team for Season 23 of The Voice or saw one of her many goofy social media posts, Cosentino's fun-loving personality, unique sense of style, and witty songwriting shine through in everything she does.

The Nashville-based singer’s discography is aflush with lyrical quippings that indulge in clever wordplay and poignance in the same breath. Songs like "Prettiest Girl in the Room", "Did I?" and “Imposter Syndrome” deal with struggles in a dark world, but Cosentino doesn’t shy away. If anything, her music lets the light in. Donning her personal sound with the fitting description of “Regina Spektor and Norah Jones meeting a Charlie Puth bassline,” Cosentino’s genre-bending style coupled with her authentic storytelling talent make for consistently compelling works of art. Her EP Note to Self was released in May of 2022 and received praise from several outlets including Rolling Stone India. It’s an upbeat homage to her college days covering romantic escapades, identity crises, and struggles with body image. The Kansas City-born star continues to write and release original music while performing all over the United States. You can find her music on all streaming platforms as well as one original song in the books and products for American Girl Doll Tenney Grant.
